Animal Crossing: New Horizon is a first person game for the Nintendo Switch set on a virtual island. Almost anything is possible in this game based on decisions made by the user. The island and characters reflect the values of the user.

Anything created or built in the game is based on collecting the games monetary value of bells. Bells can be obtained in several different ways such as selling items found on your island, trading in Nook Miles (goals completed) and by shaking trees / digging up items. When you collect these bells you can use the bells to buy buildings, tools, clothes, design furniture or anything to help sculpt and maintain the island.

Villagers that live on the custom made island can be spoken to. These villagers can make your island home, but can also stay for awhile and then move away. The villagers each have their own quirkiness and the user tends to find things they like about villagers, but can also find some annoying traits (just like in reality).

Visitors to the island can be virtual characters or actual players of the game that know the islands creator. The creator can also visit other islands of people they know. When visiting another island you can view it to get ideas for your own, collect fruit that may be different and also speak to villagers that are different. In order to have this ability, a Nintendo Subscription must be purchased at a cost of around $20 per year. The subscription gives you other capabilities such as visiting dream islands.

There are so many actions that can be done in this game such as fishing, collecting items, donating items to add to the museums collections, etc. The ultimate goal of this game is continuously update the island to keep modernizing it. There is also an add-on called Happy Home Paradise in which you can create vacation homes for villagers. The cost for this add-on is $25.

Everything can be customized in this game to give a truly unique experience. Music can be custom made, apparel, furniture, wall paper, signs, etc. Even events such as holidays are made to happen on that day during the year through updates in the game.

    What we liked:

    • The ability to custom make almost anything in the game to give a unique experience.
    • The goals set are enjoyable to obtain.
    • The activities in the game are fun and easily relatable to real life.
    • The updates are constant and the ability to see different events happen on holidays throughout the year (Halloween, Christmas, New Years, Etc.)
    • The ability to travel to other friends islands.

    What we disliked:

    • The ability to kick villagers off your island, without the villager asking permission first.
    • The game is only updated for three years (but could change depending on popularity)
    • The answers from villagers can be redundant and the thought is that maybe these responses could be more intelligent to provide a more intuitive response.
    • Personality of villagers can also be similar to others that are on the island

Animal Crossing: New Horizon gives the user the ability to custom make everything. The users vision for their island, wardrobe, furniture to even music can be manipulated to reflect the creators personality and values.

The game can be purchased with the link below.

8.4 Animal Crossing: New Horizon - A Nintendo Switch Hit!

Animal Crossing is a game that allows the users vision come to life. This game really goes above and beyond and is continuously updated to give the user the experience of keeping up with the time and not being outdated. The ability to custom make practically anything makes the game enjoyable, especially when it comes to view how your island is compared to that of your friends. It truly gives users an experience that is unique to each and everyone depending on the amount of time one wants to take to focus on developing it.

Although there are only two more planned years left that the game will be updated, there is still time to jump in and create your own island. Here at LikedorDisliked.com we truly feel we related with the games ability to give the experience of a customized adventure. We feel that this game being in the genre of social simulation gives users a heck of a fun time for not a huge hit to the wallet.
