The device works through your WiFi, so you must have a signal that reaches your garage area.
Allowing access to your garage and giving other family members user names, this device is well worth the low price tag. Although you do have to maintain this device by keeping the Lithium CR 2450 batteries on hand, the life of the batteries do last. We highly recommend buying this device if you want to keep up with the Jones's and make your house a smart house.
