Earlier I did a review for an add-on to a garage opener that made your current, non-smart garage opener a smart device (Chamberlain’s My Q). The Genie StealthDrive is a smart device in itself and doesn’t require the add-on. The garage door can be manipulated through the Aladdin Connect App, to open, set schedules and view the history of the door being opened and closed. Along with these capabilities, virtual keys are also available to allow others access to your door.
The StealthDrive is a belt functioning opener. The belt makes the process of opening the garage door smooth and a lot more quiet than one with a chain. A minor detail to note is if you are replacing an existing opener and the current opener functions with a chain, the track will need to be changed. This makes the installation a little more cumbersome than just swapping out the opener.
The opener has several parts and items in the packing box, including a sheet that has a QR code that points to an app called “BILT”. This app made the process a little easier as it takes you step by step in installing the opener. The app goes into so much detail it even gives the color of the bag that the parts are packaged in.
The final part of the set up is connecting your unit to your network. The BILT app does not go over this, but the Aladdin Connect App does. Once the Aladdin Connect app is installed and an account is created there is a QR Code on the side of the opener that guides you through connecting the opener to your network.
What we liked:
- Very Quiet
- Has Smart capability built in with Aladdin Connect
- Was well packaged and material was organized
- Most parts were compatible with the old Genie Opener
- Simplistic Programming / Setting the door up and down limits
What we disliked:
- When installing more than just the opener, installation background may be necessary
- The design with the belt and the turnbuckle is not the easiest to use to tighten belt tension
- Does not go over generalized idea of how to take down old unit
The Genie StealthDrive garage door opener is one of the newest models out there that comes with smart device features. Genie is a well known name with a great reputation on their garage doors and accessories. The price of this unit is very comparable to other brands and styles.

Genie is the name that comes to mind when speaking about Garage Doors. They have been around for quite some time and have a reputable name to back up their openers. They now provide smart abilities in their products that help assist with todays hectic life. Being able to open and close the garage at will from anyone that is given access makes life a little easier. Not to mention the use of the steel threaded belt makes all the loud noises your garage door used to create, become non-existent. We feel this is a product that we would be happy to stand behind.
